Founder and Senior Partner of the Meaux Group, Willy Meaux has 35 years of experience in Washington as Associate Director of Congressional Affairs for an independent federal financial industry regulatory agency under the Obama Administration, as senior staff to Members of the U.S. House of Representatives, as an independent filmmaker, video producer and communications strategist, as a private sector lobbyist for international companies and representing 106 major public universities, including the nation’s historically black land-grant universities and the 47 public universities of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and as a strategist for public issue and candidate campaigns at the Presidential, national, state and local level.
In the decade of 2000-2009, Willy established Meaux Washington Group, a public affairs firm. In 2004, he founded Longthrow Multimedia International LLC, a film and video production company. He served as President of Longthrow for 6 years and produced hundreds of commercials, documentaries, film projects and media content for broadcast and Internet streaming.
In 2010, he joined the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and led establishment of the Fund’s new NHL-Thurgood Marshall Scholarship to assist inner city kids from the National Hockey League’s Hockey Is For Everyone Program around the United States and Canada to enable them the opportunity to achieve a higher education. Willy Meaux is also a USA Hockey Level 5 Certified Master Coach, and has volunteered as a coach of inner-city kids in Anacostia for the past 17 years. In 2016, the University of Notre Dame’s Play Like A Champion Program named him a “Champion of Children” for founding an inner-city youth sports program.
During the decade of 1987 through 1999, he was Director of Government Relations for ICI, a global manufacturing company. He developed global advocacy strategies on tax, international investment, trade, energy and health care issues. He chaired two national grassroots committees for major global associations. Willy led issues for ICI, a leading global life sciences company, in food and agriculture, pharmaceuticals, health and sanitary products. ICI’s Cellmark division was a genomics pioneer. It’s ICI Chemicals and Polymers Division was a leader in polyester chemistry based technologies, and many other areas of advanced chemistry, including methanol, ethanol, coal gasification and other alternative fuel technologies. ICI manufactured in 45 countries and had substantial operations in 150 countries around the world. To advance the US portfolio of businesses, he regularly worked with tax and trade ministries around the world, including the EU, England, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, India, Australia, Canada and countries of the Pacific Rim. He was a key advisor to corporate boards and managed political campaigns for global strategic planning and public communications on complex international, national and state issues. He is an expert in political action, grassroots organization, communications message development and media strategies.
From 1981 to 1987, he was Director of Projects to Congressman Gillis Long, Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Cathy Long and Congressman Jimmy Hayes. In 1979 and 1980, he was on the campaign field staff of Senator Edward M. Kennedy during his bid for the Presidency of the United States.
